Visitations, also known as ‘parenting time’ is the right of the child to
bond with the non-custodial parent. Both Kansas & Missouri have general
guidelines for creating a fair and equitable schedule of parenting times.
The guidelines will vary depending on the age of the child and other
factors. For example, infants and toddlers have fewer overnight visits
than older children.
Visitation has related issues that need to be agreed upon or decided by
the courts; point of pick-up and drop-off of the child, transportation
arrangements and costs, especially when the parents live more than a ½
hour drive away from each other, and in some instances, supervision of
visits by a third party for the protection of the child.
