Judges in both Kansas and Missouri strongly favor mediation, by an experienced court-appointed mediator, as a way to settle disputes between the parties. There is no doubt that mediation reduces the number of issues in dispute, if not results in agreement on all matters.

Each party is expected to pay approximately 0 dollars, which is set by the court, prior to mediation.

Mediators have different approaches. For example some will meet with each party separately until there is an agreement or mediation fails. Others use a combination of individual meetings and joint meetings to try to reach a settlement.
